QVC Acquire Ooodle.com

Oodle, a privately held California Corp. was just acquired by QVC, the shopping giant. Oodle was founded by former Excite and eBay executives, CEO Craig Donato, CFO Tod Harmon.

If you can’t buy Craigslist, then look for something close to it. Oodle uses the power of social media, and applies it to online classifieds. According to their website, they operate a network of online marketplaces with more than 15M monthly unique users including the Oodle Marketplace on Facebook, and Oodle mobile (http://www.oodle.com/info/mobile).

My take is that QVC has been feeling the heat from the competition mainly (NASDAQ: AMZN) for some time and if it didn’t acquire Oodle, then somebody else would…

Keep an eye on this to see how the competition will change.

iPhone vs. Android

A very interesting statistic. Android is now 75% of the market as it pertains to device market share, but the Safari browser on the tablet and cellphones has a market share of 65%. See the tables below:
Android market share

Graph showing mobile phone market share. It shows share of Symbian OS tumbling while Android is skyrocketing

Symbian to the grave, Android Bang Zoom to the moon

 Safari Market Share

So taking into account the tablets, and the use of the browsers, we see that Android has a long road ahead of it to catch up with the tablets.

I just thought this was interesting.
