Drinking water will make you smarter

Just an FYI for my Twitter friends: A Camel can drink 25 gallons of water in 3 minutes.

The University of East London did some research and found that the brain finctions a lot better after a glass of water, actually 14% faster. These researchers believe that the brain can focus better once thirst is not taking up CPU time. (Source)

Experiments were done on 34 men and women. They were asked not to eat anything overnight, then in the morning they were given a cereal bar and took the test, then they were given water, and took another test.

Those who didn’t want to drink the water, did equally on the second test, but those that did drink, did up to 14% quicker. This was reported by The journal Frontiers in Human Neuroscience.

Another research by the brilliant minds of UK researchers:

They had teenagers cycle for 90 minutes, then they scanned their brains. But they had the teenagers wear differently,

  • 1/3 wore three layers of sweat-inducing clothing – including  skin tight undergarment
  • 1/3 wore a hooded chemical warfare suit and a track suit.
  • the last 1/3  wore much more lightly, like  shorts and T-shirts.

The 2/3 that were wrapped up lost around 2lb in sweat – and their brain tissue had shrunk away from their skulls. (Water loss?)

Just 90 minutes of steady sweating can shrink the brain as much as a year of aging. But after a glass of water or two the brain quickly returns to normal.
