Delegates vs. Popular Vote Complaints

Lately even reporters on TV have been complaining about, “If a candidate doesn’t get to the number of delegates, but has the most popular votes and is not awarded the nomination, is it fair to the people that want that candidate?”

This is ludicrous, the rules are the rules. Think about it, in football you wouldn’t say, “The team that has the most fans should win the game because they brought the most people to the stadium…”  would you? Whether they had the fans there or not, they would still have to follow the rules and win the game.

So if I were in either party’s committee (thank God for being independent), I would have that argument, “If you want the nomination, you habe to get to the delegate number that we had set from the beginning. You can’t and we won’t change the rules midstream. End of story.
